Chile has enormous tectonic plates. These plates are constantly causing constant volcanic and seismic activity. This has caused Chile to become one of the hot springs hot spots. There are around 270 thermal hot springs in Chile. The most beautiful and active region is along the Liquiñe-Ofqui Fault. Some of the springs reach 176 degrees F- hot enough to kill a person. The tourist industry has capitalized on the thermal springs, despite remote locations, and built modern amenities around them. However, for the brave, there are still many untouched springs, that are around the salt flats. Interesting enough!......Be careful........it's very hot!........but you can enjoy the healing properties it is said to have!
270 hot springs!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post. If ever i visit Chile, i'll try to take a quick bath in one of those hot spots!
Very nice destination Pearl. I didn't know that Chile had hot springs. I love going to hot springs. When I was in the Philippines, we went to this resort that had black stones/sand and hot springs. It was great relaxation. Where do you recommend any hot springs resorts in Chile?
